There are three types of arthritis: 1. Osteo _ arthritis (also known as degenerative). It can be caused by an injury of the joint or, if widespread, may be associated with the ageing process. 3. Ankylosing spondylitis: This type of arthritis has acute and chronic phases which results in fusion of the joints of the spine causing severe deformity and immobility.
